The direction by B arry Shear is g ood and makes inno vative use of spli t screen pho tograph y. Plus, he keeps everythi ng moving at a quick p ace. In its fu nny moments, t he film w orks well. In its attempts at drama, its he lplessly d ated an d just as fu nny as the humorous mome nts. Christoph er Jones underp lays his role and She lly Winters overacts. Hal Hol brook offe rs the best performan ce and Di ane Varsi ach ieves the righ t note of & quot;groo viness&am p;quot;.
